EVERY DAY IS TAG DAY!

MCPAWS Regional Animal Shelter does everything it can to reunite lost pets with their owners.  But when the pets aren’t wearing ID tags, they may never get home.

On April 5, MCPAWS will join the American Humane Association in kicking off “Every Day Is Tag Day”-- a public awareness campaign that unites thousands of shelters, veterinary clinics, animal care and control agencies and animal welfare organizations across the country in an effort to emphasize the importance of an ID tag for ensuring lost animals have a voice.

Saturday, April 5, MCPAWS welcomes all pet owners to stop by the shelter at 831 S. 3rd St., between noon and 4:00 p.m. to pick up a free MCPAWS I.D. tag for their dog or cat. “Without an ID tag, a lost pet can sit in the shelter for days while we try to locate its owner,” says Amy Crookshanks, MCPAWS executive director. Click here to read more...

Friends of MCPAWS
Endowment fund

In September 2007 MCPAWS Executive Director Amy Crookshanks announced that a long-time MCPAWS donor and volunteer established an endowment fund for MCPAWS through the Idaho Community Foundation. The endowment is called Friends of MCPAWS. “An endowment,” says Crookshanks, “is a fund created by a substantial financial gift, or combination of gifts, that is invested in long term financial instruments or capital assets. Typically only the income earned on that gift may be directed towards operating expenses.” Each year MCPAWS will receive a percentage of the interest earned on the account, beginning in 2009.

As a result of a recent matching pledge drive (two long-time MCPAWS donors matched any total amount, up to $1,000, donated for the endowment by December 31, 2007), MCPAWS supporters responded and $7,070 was put into the endowment the first week of January-- Thank you!

If you'd like to help MCPAWS with an endowment gift, please contact MCPAWS director Amy Crookshanks (see below). Let her know the amount you are contributing, and if you will be sending the donation to MCPAWS Endowment Fund, Box 1375, McCall, ID 83638, or directly to Friends of MCPAWS Endowment, c/o The Idaho Community Foundation, P.O. Box 8143, Boise, ID 83707.

Sending a contribution to either organization will put your gift into the fund, and will help build the important and newly established Friends of MCPAWS endowment.

MAKE MCPAWS YOUR PET CAUSE!
Valley County’s homeless animals need your help!
The Problem –
MCPAWS, Valley County’s only animal shelter, needs secure funding.

1)
Help us convince Valley County and its cities to equitably fund the animal sheltering services they are so willing to utilize, and so fortunate to have available from MCPAWS (the only animal shelter in Valley County)
2) Encourage area residents to support MCPAWS-- financially, or with donations of goods or services
3) VOLUNTEER!

Many of you are already giving to
MCPAWS, and we are so very grateful. Others, people who love animals, have been meaning to get involved, and if ever there was a time to sit down and write that check, the time is now.

MCPAWS is one of Valley County's success stories, in many ways symbolizing what is so wonderful about our community: people coming together in humanity to be of help.

MCPAWS' 6-YEAR SHELTER ANNIVERSARY

We're proud of our progress and thankful for the generosity of many individuals and the devoted support of our wonderful community. We couldn't have done it without you!

We could use a helping paw!
9-8-07 MCPAWS has many homeless canines and felines! Cats, kittens, dogs and pups come into the shelter at steady rate. These pets have few options now-- unless they appeal to a prospective adopter. If you have room in your heart and home, please seriously consider adopting a shelter pet. They've done nothing wrong-- they are the victims. Don't pass shelter pets by-- they're some of the very best friends you'll ever come across!

Help us find homes for our wonderful shelter pets! And please, support shelters and animal welfare groups in their continuing efforts to educate pet owners about the critical need for spaying or neutering pets  to help reduce pet over-population. Pass the word yourself: Tell someone who needs to know, that there are low-cost spay/neuter programs in your area. Encourage others to adopt their next pet from a shelter. You can make a difference!

We WELCOME volunteers! Any time you can share to help out at the shelter is appreciated. Our shelter pets benefit greatly from one-on-one attention. The more opportunities cats and dogs have to socialize with people & with other shelter pets, the more adoptable they become. For details, click on Yellow Cat!

Other volunteer opportunities range from helping with pet adoptions, to working on fund-raising projects.
No amount of time is 'too little' to give. Your participation will make a difference. If you'd like to volunteer, contact us:

As a non-profit organization, we have limited resources for paid staff and rely on volunteers to help with the operation of MCPAWS. We invite people of all ages and interests to explore opportunities to become board members, officers, committee workers and  volunteers. To learn more about MCPAWS, see the organization details.

MCPAWS Volunteers give animals at the shelter love and attention, help advertise currently available pets and assist with their adoption, raise funds to support MCPAWS, and more.
MCPAWS Regional Animal Shelter cannot board animals. Contact local veterinary clinics for boarding information.

Our Goal
To provide a safe, sanitary, humane level of care to all cats and dogs while they are in the Shelter.
We run an effective adoption program and promote public education encouraging
responsible pet ownership.
