a home... yours!

Shown below are some of cats currently at the Shelter or in foster care. We rarely see an animal with ID, so MCPAWS staff name each one to make adoption promotion easy and consistent.

MCPAWS works hard to find homes for shelter pets as soon as possible. If you're looking for a new canine or feline friend, please consider adopting from MCPAWS (check out S.N.I.P!)Stop in at the shelter, 831 S. 3rd, McCall, ID (formerly the McCall Vet Clinic), or call:
208-634-DOGS
MCPAWS Regional Animal Shelter is open Tues-Sat, Noon until 4p.m.

Remember!

Kittens & puppies are cute,
but please...

Consider adopting an ADULT
companion animal!

Adult critters are more likely to be house-trained & calm, & may have already adapted to life in a household with pets or children.

They deserve a second chance too!
Though November is traditionally Adopt-A-Senior-Pet Month,
it's important any time of the year!

Dedicated to Big Boy, our good friend.
We miss this handsome feline-

Please call or visit MCPAWS if you would like to adopt a shelter pet. If adoption is not an option, the cats still benefit greatly from a visit. Stop in at the shelter and spend some time with them upstairs at MCPURRS. They need and appreciate the extra attention, and the additional socialization helps to make them more adoptable.

This site is updated as photos and information become available. There are more cats at the shelter than are listed on this page. The website is a volunteer-based effort, so please be patient when updates are sl-o-o-o-w! For the latest shelter information call MCPAWS at 208-634-DOGS

MEOW!

Every month is Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month at MCPAWS
!
There are so many kitties waiting for real homes... too many. These wonderful animals have done nothing wrong, they've just run short on luck. Most have been 'found', some surrendered. Many are already experienced in family and household routines. ALL deserve a second chance for happy, loving homes.

Please give a MCPAWS feline a chance--kitten or adult-- if you're planning a new feline addition to your household. The right pet for you and your family is waiting for you at MCPAWS!

Our special MCPAWS felines, hoping for real homes!
(and there are many more)

MEET thESE FELINE FRIENDS AT MCPURRS! Our cat-friendly area upstairs at MCPAWS is a PLEASURE to visit, thanks to the very hard work of staff and volunteers. The cats do have kennels, just like most shelters, but they also have the run of the place at least once a day (usually more). This allows them to socialize with other cats & lots of folks, play & exercise. They get many opportunities to snooze in the sun, or even go outside-- there is a secure area built on the deck where the kitties can get fresh air, frolic or relax. Volunteers and staff are devoted to making these kitties happy and therefore, more adoptable. You will have no trouble at all finding the right feline friend at MCPURRS!

Birdie: ADOPTED!
An elegant gray and white cat, queen-sized, spayed. On her own for awhile, this sad kitty is hoping to find a forever home one day. She is an indoor/outdoor feline, 4 years old, house-trained, and prefers a dog-free household, or at least one with very mellow canines. Birdie hopes the right  person will come along soon-- a good hunter, she is available for adoption now and would be happy to do some rodent control work at your home!

SABRINA: ADOPTED! Beautiful tabby mix with medium length coat, about 2 years old, spayed. She was found on Sawyer Road out of Cascade and is lonely as can be.A very sweet homeless feline, she deserves a safe, forever home and lots of love. Lovely Sabrina is adoptable now.
Sabrina's son
RAVEN: ADOPTED! Very handsome, long-hair tiger tabby, 6 months old, and neutered. Raven was with his mom Sabrina when found outside Cascade. A happy pair, it would be nice if they could be adopted together-- they bring out the best in each other. Pay them a visit at MCPURRS and you'll see what we mean! Adopt today!

RIZZO: Pretty, year-old girl, spayed. This exceptionally nice kitty was found in McCall, off Warren Wagon Road. She is a beauty, full of personality, and quite affectionate. Need a small, but very special feline companion with radiant golden eyes? You can meet the lovely Rizzo upstairs at MCPURRS today!

SPECIAL NEEDS CAT

PRECIOUS: Sweet Siamese mix, 9 months old. Precious can either see very little or not at all. She will need a home that is fairly stable and consistent and a family willing to make special adjustments for her. The kindest and safest home for Precious would probably be one in which there are no children and where the owner is well prepared for the needs of their new pet. This might include buying a kitty water fountain for her to easily find her water, and resisting the urge to frequently rearrange your furniture! Pets already in the home should be mellow and used to cats, and not have the desire to chase her. Contact MCPAWS for more information about this beautiful kitty, 208-634-3647.

TWIST Found near Brown Drive by the McCall-Donnelly High School, this handsome fellow is a dark, long-hair tabby with stunning whiskers, and wonderful markings. Twist is about 2 years old, neutered. Hard to photo because he's in motion all the time, this graceful, even-tempered cat must be missed by someone? If you know where he belongs, or have a place for him in your loving home, please contact MCPAWS, 208-634-3647.

SNUGGLES  When her owner passed away, this friendly cat and her buddies were basically on their own. Kind friends came to the rescue, feeding the group for awhile, then getting them to MCPAWS for care and adoption. A congenial kitty, Snuggles is 2yrs., spayed, used to being outside, but would welcome an indoor/outdoor lifestyle. Her companion Inkspot (1.5yr., spayed-- photo coming soon) is also available for adoption.

fRESCO: ADOPTED!
Just over a year old and neutered, this big handsome cat has a bright white bib, and amazing golden eyes. He's always been an outdoor cat but has learned to use a litter box, so could very conceivably adjust to an indoor/outdoor lifestyle. Mellow and affectionate,
Fresco would be happy to be your favorite feline-- Adopt today!

fERRARI: Found sick and lying in the middle of Ponderosa Road, a concerned resident brought this big boy to MCPAWS before traffic got him first! Back on his feet again, Ferrari is a little cautious at first, but will most certainly welcome your friendship if you don't rush him (like a lot of us, right?). The perfect marmalade cat and very handsome, he is 2yrs. old, neutered, and adoptable now.

DINO: ADOPTED! Fluffy 1year-old fellow, neutered. Handsome Dino was shy when he arrived at MCPAWS, but with the help of staff and volunteers, he has become quite a personable feline. He is mostly orange, but has a bright white front and paws, and he loves to perch on top of the kennels-- helps him keep track of the goings-on at MCPURRS! Dino has been an outdoor cat, but would certainly consider an indoor/outdoor home-- he is adoptable now.

Garfield: ADOPTED!
A gregarious orange cat who loves to socialize and lounge. We are looking for help in finding a home for this V.I. P. – Very Important Pussycat. Our beloved shelter mascot, Garfield, is looking for a retirement home. He requires a heated barn or outbuilding setting and because he only has two teeth, needs to be fed canned food twice each day. Because Garfield is about 12 years old, his mousing days are far behind him, but he still has a lot to offer.
