MCPAWS is a non-profit

The dogs currently at the Shelter or in foster care are shown below. We rarely see an animal with ID, so MCPAWS staff name each one to make adoption advertising easy and consistent.  If you see your LOST pet listed here, or would like to meet or adopt one of these dogs, please...
call 208-634-DOGS
Or, e-mail: mcpawsrescue@frontiernet.net

MCPAWS works hard to find homes for these pets as soon as possible. If you're looking for a new canine, please consider adopting from MCPAWS (read about S.N.I.P!). Interested in volunteering for MCPAWS? We welcome the help! Please let us know who you are!
Stop in at MCPAWS, 831 S. 3rd, McCall, ID (formerly the McCall Vet Clinic) or call:
208-634-DOGS. The shelter is open Tues-Sat, noon until 4 p.m.

Remember!

Kittens & puppies are cute, but please... consider adopting an ADULT companion animal!
Adult critters are more likely to be house-trained & calm, & may have already adapted to home life with other pets or children.

They deserve a second chance too!
Though November is Adopt-A-Senior-Pet Month,
it's important any time of the year!

We just want a real HOME!
Meet our wonderful canines at
MCPAWS Regional Animal Shelter
[This site is updated as photos and information become available.
There are more dogs at the shelter than are listed on this page. Our website is a volunteer-based effort, so please be patient when updates are sl-o-o-o-w! For the latest shelter information call MCPAWS at 208-634-DOGS]

When visiting the MCPAWS canines, please don't ignore
the dog that is not 'pet-perfect' in its kennel!
Some of the shelter pets have been homeless for a long time. They are often a completely different critter once they get out of the noisy kennel environment. Just imagine how you would feel if you spent even one hour in a shelter kennel...
Take some time to get to know them better-- it's worth it! Walking a shelter dog, or getting to know it better in the new MCPAWS 'Real Life Room', will not only benefit the canine, but will help you make a more realistic adoption commitment.

JACKSON:
1 year old, neutered. A happy youngster, the idea of fetch really appeals to him, and so do YOU!
Jackson is responding well to visits from everyone at MCPAWS, and is learning Good Dog manners. This dog is full of vitality, a well-behaved car rider, and ready to make friends. Happiest with adults, he needs some good times, and a good pal. If you like to ski, Jackson is a happy to go along, enthused to scout the trail ahead, then come back and report his findings to you-- what a joyful dog. Adopt today!

ROSIE, NORMAN, AND MISSY-- 8 months old
Found and rescued by a big-hearted rancher, she brought these siblings home (there were eight!) and raised them through the fall and winter. All the pups have homes in the works except these three. Sweet Rosie at left, is spayed, full of interest in everything, and learning calm behavior and leash manners. Norman, center, is neutered, pretty good on leash, learning come, and sit-- he's very charming. Missy-- the shyest of the three, at first!-- is spayed, was clueless about leash walking, but is coming along. She loves everyone, and is quite a ham, as you can see!
Each dog is smart and loving, they just need a little one-on-one, and some consistent training. They are dog-social, people social, not so good with cats or farm critters.
They need a second chance-- will you give them one?
ADOPT TODAY!

GiGi: 4 year old strawberry blonde, a real sweetheart; she needs a trustworthy pal. GiGi was found on Warren Wagon Road in McCall, late February. She wins the heart of everyone she meets.  Easy on leash, dog-social, Gigi knows some of the basics, and we're working on reliable come and sit requests. She has been on several ski outings, and definitely enjoys some running freedom, but always checks in. A strong dog, she gave ski-jouring a try and said 'OKAY!'; this dog will make a great companion for an outdoor enthusiast. Though it appears she may have been handled roughly prior to her life at MCPAWS, this girl is still happy to give everyone a chance-- can't we do the same for her? GiGi is adoptable now.

GiGi ski joured in the MCPAWS Iditarod 3-30-08, handling a 4k ski easily (much better than her human ski buddy), and enjoying the company of dogs and humans! She has also gone on other ski outings, meeting new dogs and people-- she's quite the social butterfly!

JACK & JILL-- littermates, lab-shepherd mix, 9 months old; very friendly and affectionate. Jack is neutered, black with a little bit of shepherd coloring. Jill is spayed, dark brown. Hard to tell how good-looking these siblings are in these photos, but more are on the way. These two are house-trained, happy around kids and know some basic commands: come, sit, and down. Though a home together would be a dream come true, they're willing to consider other options!

PATTY & ZELDA-- PATTY, 4 yrs., chihuahua mix,  had pups  3-22, seven of them! They're growing up and soon will be adoptable. Contact the shelter for adoption information.  ZELDA-- Lhasa Apso 1 yr., imagine her as a dirty grey string mop with eyes... this is the 'after picture'. Isn't she a looker?! Patty was found between Lake Fork and McCall, and Zelda near Paul's Market in McCall.
